1)  What are the roadblocks that keeps brand from using more sustainable materials for their functional collection?
Time, Resources and Focused Effort! However, brands have recognized that consumers these days are more conscious and demanding Eco-friendly materials, performance, comfort, style: With the increased consumer awareness and the readily available Eco-friendly sustainable textile materials; consumers are not willing to sacrifice any of the style, performance or comfort characteristics in apparel and footwear. Global brands on the cutting edge of material science, textile technology and design innovation will continue to lead the market by meeting consumer demand and by maintaining their consumer brand loyalty.

2)  What are some of the low cost sustainable innovation or technologies that apparel brands can deploy rightnow?
Advancements and availability in Textile Nanotechnologies in the apparel and footwear market continues to provide performance solutions for the consumer including: Thermal, UV Protection, Water-Repellency, Flame-Resistance, Anti-bacteria, Self-Repairing Fabrics, Wearables-Smart Textiles and more. Fibers, yarns, and filaments are major products being used in technical textiles. Numerous technologies involved in the manufacturing includes 3D weaving, thermoforming, 3D knitting, finishing treatments and others are also being utilized.

3)  If you were going to make a prediction, when do you think 70% of the performance apparel in the market will be from sustainable or Eco technology, and why?
With the increasing demand driven by consumer choice for Eco-friendly and sustainable materials in Apparel and Footwear products. I would not be surprised to see up to 70% of the performance apparel and footwear brands using Eco-friendly sustainable materials in their products by 2023.  Leading brands are listening and will continue to lead by rapidly adopt and promoting sustainable materials to be used in their products. Setting the future direction of the market.

4)  Do you think 70% of general fashion brands like Gap, H&M will be using Eco or sustainable material by 2023 also ?
Yes I think so, the fashion industry is also committed to make a sustainability difference. Across the board, the apparel and footwear industry taking actions to increase market share of sustainability and improve how clothing and footwear is made. With more strict environmental and sustainability Eco-fabrics and material regulations for a positive future. H&M as example, launched the Conscious Exclusive collection. The collection is made of high-end environmentally friendly materials, aiming to promote H&M’s fashion and sustainability initiative and commitment. Gap, working to reduce the global greenhouse gas emissions of their facilities by 50 percent even by 2020.

5)  We are seeing more and more recycled material in everyday garment. Do you think recycled material like recycled polyester and nylon will account for the majority of current polyester and nylon use in say 5 years?
With more innovative and skilled manufacturers experimenting with recycled materials, mainly recycled polyester and also some blends of organic cotton. it appears realistic, by 2023 we could see the majority of apparel brands promoting recycled polyester Eco friendly materials in their product lines. Apparel sector has no other way apart from being innovative and to introduce recycled polyester Eco friendly materials in their product lines.
