The Fashion Knowledge Report
I’m trill to have Sue Seel, a Brand Consultant, Creative Collaborator, International Academic, Lecturer to schools like University of Arts, London, Istituto Marangoni (London), etc to share with us on this issue of The Fashion Knowledge Report™! This regular publication will provide you with ideas, strategies and information to help you succeed in your fashion business.
1) What’s your favorite part about working with students in the fashion industry ?
I operate a 360 degree approach to industry, and some of the greatest talent right now is actually still studying. Their creative and obvious understanding of the Millennials and Generation Z (because they are them!) makes my teaching so exciting. They are future thought leaders and the new consumers so having them on the team is really a big plus!
2) what are the top branding mistakes that you see emerging brands usually do?
Not creating a brand identify document which defines the brand values. This is vital before a communications strategy can be examined and executed. Another common mistakes is using social media to repeat content, and providing brand product images only.
3) For emerging brands, what are the top 3 signs that show your marketing or branding strategy isn’t working ?
A brand needs a ‘fanbase’ before achieving customers, it is important to gain following on social media, build a small community customer base first and serving it well. You gain following by communicating your brand identity and not by showing products.
4) With social media becoming more and more commercial, can emerging brands still use social media to reach their audience?
Yes absolutely, it is an exciting time for small brands as you no longer need a retail ‘bricks and mortar’ store to sell product. As you can use social media to build a fan base for your brand and engage with them directly.
Big THANKS to Sue for sharing!!!
